Tips To Keep Your House From Smelling Like Dog

Our furry friends might be super cute and cuddly, but their smell might not be.

Don’t get us wrong, but when you get used to living with pets, your nose is unable to pick up possible odour that your dog might be emanating. You basically become immune to those smells. However, have guests over and they will at once notice that your house smells an awful lot like a dog kennel.

Now having dogs does not mean you need to live with their smells, too. So, we got you some handy tips to keep your house from smelling like your pet.

Invest in an odour-resistant bed

One of the most important places that will definitely smell like your dog is their bed. However, now there are many pet beds in the market that have anti-microbial properties that resist odours. They are also easy-to-clean, and maintain, and will help you keep the air in your home fresh and clean too.

Use an air purifier

Air purifiers are not just great for humans, but also superb for cutting down allergies and odour in the house. Most air purifiers have a filter that will trap a majority of airborne particles and you can use it with or without air fresheners. This will keep away dust and also any bad smell.

Clean your pet’s belongings thoroughly

Use gentle cleaning products to clean anything that belongs to your pup or dog. Which means their beds, any clothes, and especially their collars and leash. The collar and leash are items that are overlooked, and actually get extremely smelly considering how they are the items that are always s on your dogs. If you have an active dog that likes to roll around in mud, definitely remember to clean their collars more frequently.

Wash all your linens, fabrics and carpets

Any of the above listed things your dog comes in contact with – just wash it. The first ones are beds and rugs that they usually occupy in your house. If your dog sleeps with you then you might even have to wash your bedcover more frequently than usual. And if they sit on your couch, make sure you get that dry cleaned at least once in two to three months. More importantly, wash your carpets. They soak up pet dandruff, hair and other kinds of odour, which can make your house smell really bad.

Clean your dog

This is possibly the most important tip that you need to keep in mind. You can clean everything, but if your dog isn’t clean, there is no point in doing any of the above. Use waterless shampoo and bath wipes which will help keep them smelling nice between baths.
